Altoona Pa May 26 Justice John Dean a Pennsylvania supreme court member died at his Hollidaysburg home after a three week paralysis and pneumonia illness. He was born February 16 1831 in Williamsburg Blair County and educated at Williamsburg Academy Washington College taught school and read law before entering public service as district attorney and judge. He was elected to the supreme bench in 1892 on the Republican ticket and served through subsequent terms.
Uniontown Pennsylvania May 26 Judge J K Ewing of Fayette County Court a leading Pennsylvania jurist was run down and killed by a Baltimore and Ohio train. He was 81 born in Uniontown son of the late Judge Nathaniel Ewing and Jane Kennedy educated at Washington and Jefferson College and long a director of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Railroad. He served as bank president and church elder.
