An oil geologist and Adams team later used those tunnels to reach a capstone beneath a pyramid, speculating the burial site of a high ranking Mayan ruler. Discovery followed a risky dig begun May 9, reaching 102 feet with a cautious crew, uncovering a 7 by 13 foot chamber and a male skeleton in his 30s, with a stingray spine artifact suggesting bloodletting rites.
