Motorcyclist faces drug charges after chase in Frederick
Anthony Aaron Smallwood, 36, of Colonial Way, is jailed in Frederick County on a $50,000 bond after a police chase ended in a crash on North Market Street. Police found crack cocaine, and the 1981 Honda motorcycle was reported stolen. He faces charges including vehicle theft, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, DUI drugs, fleeing, driving on revoked license, hit and run.

Derwood man critically injured in house fire outbreak
A 59 year old Derwood resident, A Hungerford LaMotte, remained in critical condition after a Thursday night house fire spread from a first floor family room to the roof. Laurel County Fire Dept said he was found in the foyer, pulled out by responders, and airlifted to Washington Hospital Center burn unit with third degree burns over about 70 percent of his body. The home at 17800 Shady Mill Road was reported well involved on arrival. Damages around 200000 to structure and 150000 to contents. The family was displaced.
