Plattsburgh backs best evacuation plan in nation
Plattsburgh New York with a population of 21 000 hosts a air base and facilities for Canadians and promises a robust evacuation plan aided by FEMA officials. Officials say the city could relocate 95 percent of the population within three days though long trips for some residents would be required. The plan relies on relocation centers 15 to 25 miles away and stockpiled provisions replaced by a shifted food distribution system.
