Culb murder trial moved out of county to county seat
The murder trial of a Suver Spring man James Thomas Porter 21 charged in the shooting death of John R Cube father of seven at the Myersville Gulf Station on November 1 1978 was moved to another county seat. Prosecutor Mary Ann Stepler seeks the death penalty if convicted. Porter’s brother William Daniel Porter 19 is also charged. About 380 dollars stolen from the station and 97 dollars plus the wallet were recovered. Montgomery County Police Pvt Larry Plant led arrests after the wallet recovery. Porter's record is clean prior to this case.
