View of Controversy on Resolutions at City Convention
A speaker analyzes the convention’s process noting resolutions were adopted with no remarks. He cites Robert’s Rules to explain procedure and confirms no secrecy existed. The executive committee organized a May convention to back Mayor Sebrey and no delegate lost rights.
Republicans Rally Over City Nomination At Court House Convention
Republicans debated the Monday night convention at the courthouse where Mayor Schley was renominated. Friends of Schley called the resolutions regular while Munshower criticized the process as railroaded by delegates and police. City Attorney Delaplaine said he drafted the resolution and no one saw it beforehand. Chairman Chipline defended the order and noted Munshower preferred a primary but was informed how to pursue it. Party factions regret the discord but pledge to push the ticket to victory.
