Stress talks on coping with family life stresses
Daniel Hess, Frederick therapist, says stress is inevitable and manageable through family-centered coping. He outlines four reaction mechanisms used by families—distancing, conflict, pseudo-positions, and focusing on a child—warning against chronic use and urging self examination before attempting to change others. He emphasizes the family should reduce stress, not merely be a site of it, and notes nodal events like marriage and births drive major changes.

A Psychology Today interview with Elizabeth Hall Woyne discusses aging. She notes younger men marrying later and grandmothers in their early 40s entering college, challenging traditional age norms. She predicts health care will extend vigor, enabling 60 to 100 year olds to pursue travel and new careers, supported by policies to ease late-life work.
