Red lights on car sides barred to prevent front sighting

Motor Vehicle Commissioner F Austin Baughman urged motorists to remove colored decorative lights on the front of autos. The Eastern Conference of Motor Vehicle Administrations endorsed the ban on red lights visible from the front to avoid misperception with parked vehicles. Lights on running boards may be placed near the front fender to avoid front visibility. No arrests will be made to enforce the order, relying on voluntary cooperation.
