Ancient 5000 Year Old Corn Brought to Riverdale Resident
Mr William McCabe of Riverdale Maryland reports six kernels of corn found in an Arkansas cave dated by fossil signs at 5,000 to 6,000 years. Other kernels grown by John E Barton in Milwaukee match in size and color, traced back to seeds from George Barnum of Columbus Nebraska. Barnum reportedly dug seeds from ancient pottery in a sealed cave, planted last January, yielding tall stalks up to fifteen feet in dry weather. Burton, a Wisconsin seed dealer, confirms the seed’s origin and sells to farmers near Lake Geneva for trials. McCabe plants his share and awaits results.

Agricultural Trust to Shape Farmers Power in Nation
Captain Joby Hebb of Baltimore foresees a new nationwide farmers trust built from county granges. Organizers aim to regulate production of grain, fruit, vegetables, and cattle via county and state boards, paying farmers via controlled output to balance market forces against powerful grain and meat dealers. The plan, discussed at Grange meetings, seeks to empower farmers and curb profits of traditional traders.
