State approves spraying funds for gypsy moth and mosquitoes

The Board of Public Works in Annapolis authorized up to 230000 dollars for an aerial gypsy moth spraying program in northern and central Maryland and a forthcoming mosquito spray effort to combat salt marsh pests on the Eastern Shore. The meeting also approved a 22.5 million concert hall naming, a 479000 prison foundation contract, and a 1 million building project for inmate housing at the Maryland Penitentiary training center. The hall will honor Joseph Meyerhoff, and a 1.5 million state loan plus a matching gift funded the naming. The Baltimore Symphony plans a September 16 opening for the venue.
