The case of Wren County Sheriff Baumgartner advances with a July 8 trial date set by Judge James Macgill in Ellicott City. He faces six counts of malfeasance and assault plus related charges tied to alleged inmate mistreatment and use of jail labor for private residence work.
Montgomery County Sheriff Richard O. Baumgartner denies he said he would not pursue further appeal of his three counts of embezzlement malfeasance and false pretenses. He notes no formal reelection candidacy and cites unsettled court actions and his finances while awaiting notice from the judge.
Frederick County resumes its steeplejack lineage as 62 year old Charles Anglesbee trains Libertytown resident Johnny Eyler to take over repairs. Eyler completes his apprenticeship repainting and gold leafing Saint Peter's Church steeple 125 feet up under Anglesbee’s supervision.
Frederick delegate Julien Delphey told Kiwanis that the proposed County Courthouse Complex appears stalled with no decisive General Assembly action likely for months. He cited plans to reappraise Patrick Street properties and discussed tax and election reform, land use bill limits, and a new FCC board governing Frederick Community College.
A Maryland public hearing at Frederick Community College discusses a proposal to allow hunting in select state parks from mid October to January. Sierra Club opposed the plan, arguing it favors 5 percent of park users with hunting licenses, while Izaak Walton League supports hunting in parks and expanding access.
