New York Firm Low Drilling Work Bidder on Pike Projects
The Raymond Concrete Pile Company of New York was the low bidder on exploratory drilling for three Washington National Pike projects in Montgomery County. The bid amounted to about 43,009 dollars. The three jobs cover the Middiesbrook Road overpass, Seneca Creek bridge, and an underpass at the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad near Brown. Russell H. McCain, Frederick, Maryland, chairman of the State Roads Commission, said Governor McKean will formally open the second link of the pike from Urbana to near Hyattstown on June 10. Ceremonies are set for 7 p.m. Traffic will join Route 240 near Hyattstown as work continues toward Washington. A decision on the expressway route into Washington will likely be announced next week. Property owners in Montgomery County suburbs oppose proposed routes. Final details on the Frederick bypass from Route 40 east to the Tuscarora relocation north of the city will be announced next week.
