Agency works to ease public trust in government ethics
Nancy Speck of the Maryland Ethics Commission spoke at the VFW Country Club in Frederick about ethics rules and financial disclosure laws governing public officials. She noted the commission oversees disclosure, gifts, lobbying, and conflicts of interest, with 2.8 million spent last year to influence legislation, and highlighted efforts to extend ethics laws to counties and municipalities including Frederick County and the city of rederive.
