Democratic State Convention Drops Berry and Denies Bryan Slate
Harrisburg May 21 After a hard fought battle the Democratic state convention refused to instruct delegates at large to the Denver convention for Bryan. The organization headed by Col James M Guffey won a clean cut victory over the Bryanites who had strong support from their executive committee. William H Berry former state treasurer was dropped from the organization slate and later listed by Bryanites as a delegate at large. The convention also named James M Guffey Arthur Walt John Harman and others as delegates at large with Joseph P Cullen Albert Arr and others as electors at large.
