County health officer flags sewage limits on apartment project
Dr. Forbes H. Burgess told the Frederick County Planning Commission that a proposed high rise apartment development on a 43 acre site between the VFW Country Club and WFMD transmitter cannot meet state health department sewage disposal standards. Local developers Wilbur Hargett and Howard Fink argued the rezoning from R-1 to R-3 is separate from the sewer issue. The commission also considered Franklin Valentine’s plan to rezone four acres at U.S. 15 and Orndorff Road from A-1 to A-2 for a upholstery business, noting Thurmont as a better site and the need to weigh traffic patterns. both requests were taken under advisement for later county action.
