Sen Paul Sarbanes testified before the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee in support of a full funding level of 13 million dollars for the EPA Office of Chesapeake Bay programs and cost shared grants to Bay-area states in the 1988 budget. He said the Chesapeake Bay program has been successful but more work is needed to restore the Bay.

Five construction workers injured in three story fall
Five workers from Hardage Construction Co. were injured Monday morning when falling three stories at 1380 Piccard Drive during concrete balcony framing for a Woodfin Suites hotel. Clarence Gallow, 53, Germantown, in serious abdominal condition. Raymond Harrison, 37, Louisiana, serious with buttock laceration. Ernest Ricks, 30, Silver Spring, stable with back and ankle injuries. Evert St. Andre, 47, Louisiana, fair with head injuries. David Turner, 45, Beaumont, Texas, treated and released.

At the Maryland Correctional Training Center one inmate died and two were injured when a storm produced lightning while inmates walked across a yard. Maurice Morgan was pronounced dead. Anthony Tyree was stable and Stanley Black was in serious condition at Washington County Hospital.
