Bishop Ames Will Verdict Gives Granddaughter A Share
In Barrimore on May 18 the court ruled in favor of Emma L. A. Weik, granddaughter of Bishop Ames, granting a two thirds interest in his estate valued between 150 000 and 200 000. Jury found testamentary fraud and lack of sound mind in parts, but favorable to the plaintiff on first two points while the last was against her. Bishop Ames, a prominent Methodist, died 14 years ago leaving real estate holdings and three children Anna Laura and Captain E R Ames. The earlier will favored Anna Ames Hiss, wife of William Jr Hiss, and disinherited the others. Captain Ames had been insane and died later, while Laure Ames left a will to her nephew’s daughter. Emma Weik later married a Mr Welk.
