HDC member Removes Sign From Window
Douglas Claytor, owner of Renaissance Restoration, removed a portable sign from his West Fourth Street window after the Historic District Commission sign committee raised questions about required approval. HDC Chair Irene Kirilloff said the committee has jurisdiction over signs visible from the public way and that all business signs need approval. Mayor Paul Gordon voiced concern that portable or non painted signs might force repeated approvals for changes, while Claytor indicated he will seek required authorization if found to be in violation.
