Penn elected president of local Dairy Council
Frederick County man Blair L. Penn was elected president of the Dairy Council of the Upper Chesapeake Bay for the 1978 78 term at the 17th annual Baltimore meeting. Other officers named included Ralph L. Strock as vice president LeRoy E. Norfolk Jr. as treasurer and Jaye Packett as communications coordinator. Dr Robert S Katz spoke on health issues and dairy foods noting distinctions between milk and lactose intolerance and praising National Dairy Council efforts.

4-Hers learn breadmaking at Frederick High School
Fourteen 4-H girls from Myersville Urbana Mt. Pleasant and New Market took part in two April breadmaking workshops at Frederick High School. Beginners shaped dinner rolls and muffins while advanced groups baked Swedish limpa rye bread and cinnamon swirl loaves with recipes and demonstrations by Tanya Easterday Ellen Mayne Barbara Grossnickle and Barbara Murphy. Recipes included makeshift loafs and steps for dough kneading rising and baking with guidance from 4-H leaders and assistants.

Nutrition Seminar Emphasizes Hyperkinesis Education
The Dairy Council of Greater Washington hosted a nutrition seminar at the National Agricultural Library in Beltsville focusing on hyperkinesis and the Feingold diet.
