Retired Teachers Attend RTA Spring Luncheon

About 135 members of the Frederick County Retired Teachers Association and guests met at Bettys Restaurant on Tuesday May 16 for their annual spring luncheon. Guests included Dr Gordon M Anderson Mrs Pauline Howles Warren Smith Nancy Gordon and Francis Holsinger. The meeting featured remarks by C Beattie Stauffer and a tribute to Edith Nicodemus. Catherine Powell was elected secretary for 1978-1980. MRTA State President-elect Harry C Smith spoke of upcoming activities and the Ocean City convention. John Bond MRTA president addressed the group and spoke on retirement rewards and travel experiences.

Doody alleges zone violations over Pool in Middletown

Middletown planners told resident Richard Doody to file his list of alleged zoning violations against Monte Waterman with the Frederick County Planning and Zoning Commission for review. Doody contends Waterman’s pool violates zoning rules and deed covenants. Waterman denied objections. A separate issue: the commission will request State Highway Administration clarification on the Middletown by pass route through Valley Land Investment’s Brook Ridge area.
