Judge Denies Postponement of Primary in Baltimore
Judge Joseph Carter ruled Friday that the primary election must proceed on May 20. Tawney sought to delay due to missing polling-place lists published less than 20 days before the vote. The ruling acknowledged conflicts between election law sections but prioritized the fixed election date to avoid public disruption. Tawney, a former House delegate from 1936 to 1954, argued the list omission harmed his bid for the State Senate in the 3rd District.
