Erosion Raises Cost of Baltimore Chesapeake Bay Bridge Approach
In Baltimore on May 18 engineers warn eastern causeway erosion may add 700000 to 800000 to bridge costs. Repairs will be funded from the contingency pool of 3500000. J E Greiner Co recommends heavier rip rap and raised walls or steel pilings to curb washout. The causeway extends 2200 feet. weather and soil leakage have caused prior damage.
