Dusty Graham joins Frederick County 4 H office staff

Jeanne Graham known as Dusty joins local 4 H agents Jeanne Duvall and Dan Braucher in Frederick City. She will oversee Poppie Clubs and inter city 4 H groups including Butterflies Cloverhill Edgewood and others while exploring new clubs and the winner enrichment program in the city. Her previous Annapolis 4 H experience and move to Hagerstown are noted.

Carroll Manor Grange Holds Annual Sewing Contest

Carroll Manor Grange met at the Grange Hall Adamstown for its annual sewing contest with Worthy Master Eugene Mills Jr presiding A covered dish supper preceded the meeting Carroll Manor had 16 members at the Pomona Banquet in Middletown The group discussed a National Grange Week square dance and donated 25 to youth leadership fund Secretary Mary Louise Ramsburg read letters from Mother Clarke Thurmont and Kimbrough Army Hospital Read about a cooking contest at Frederick Towne Mail and that 46 bags of candy were sent to Mother Clarke Winners in the sewing contest included Kay O Hara JoAnne Poole Pam Holter and Eddie O Hara Judges were JoAnne Duvall Dorothy Smith and Edna Huff Barbara Christie from JoAnn Fabric Shop gave a program on spinning and weaving

Farm insurance plan aims at consolidated all risk coverage

The Agriculture Secretary announced a unified farm insurance program via ASCS to sell three coverage levels 50 70 and 90 percent of normal production with government premium sharing for the first level and producer paid costs for higher levels. The plan, funded by the Commodity Credit Corporation, would consolidate disaster programs and start with 1980 winter crops if Congress acts quickly.
