Ex-Marine convicted of murders in 1977 Fayetteville case

A Franklin County jury found Gary Lee Rock of Fayetteville guilty of two counts of first degree murder and six counts of attempted first-degree murder for a July 1977 sniping that killed James W. MontCo Council Approves 568 Million Budget for FY 79

The Montgomery County Council approved a 568.4 million operating budget for Fiscal 1979, up 2.4 million from the executive’s request. Presbyterians confront ordination of homosexuals debate

In San Diego the United Presbyterians opened their nine day General Assembly amid fierce contention over ordaining acknowledged homosexuals. A 19 member task force backed the proposal, 14 to 5, amid threats of schism while delegates heard appeals for unity and civil debate. Six candidates vied to be moderator as two voiced opposition to the recommendation. About 2,000 Presbyterians attended, with 60 voting delegates.

Paroled felon charged in rape and shootings on Eastern Shore
