EMS Institute honors Cale Seelye for efforts
Frederick County residents were among 21 honored by the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems for going beyond the call of duty. Trooper First Class Robert Cale received a certificate of honor for freeing a handicapped man trapped in a van on I 270 near Frederick after the vehicle overturned. He pried the metal away with his cruiser jack to free the passenger’s head. Donna L Seelye of Mount Airy received a distinguished service award for decades of EMS service in Frederick County, including developing the county's advanced life support program and serving on regional EMS committees and councils.
