Rose Hill Plaza on Opossumtown Pike drew no bids, while a Ridgeway Farms 3.3 acre site topped bids near 230000 dollars. Wilbur Ford files to run for Frederick County Commissioner

Wilbur Ford 52 of Buckeystown Buckeystown Pike filed his candidacy Monday for Frederick County Commissioner. A surveyor and planning commission member for six years he vows to uphold the Frederick County Comprehensive Plan and criticize current zoning decisions. He previously ran unsuccessfully for county commissioner in 1986 and for the Maryland House of Delegates in 1982.

Shirley Snowden Named Frederick County Teacher of the Year

Shirley Snowden, a 51 year old seventh grade mathematics teacher at Monocacy Middle School, has been named Frederick County Teacher of the Year. The nomination process included 25 teachers and is seen as a step toward the statewide contest. Snowden previously worked as a statistician at Fort Detrick and chaired an educational dialogue team with the Interracial Dialogue Group after Martin Luther King Jr. death.

Landfill Named On EPA List Of Potential Polluters

The EPA released a revised 24 facility list under the 1987 Clean Water Act, naming Reichs Ford Landfill in Frederick County among potential polluters discharging silver and cyanide into Bush Creek. Talbott Barrett and Gunter win Myersville Council seats

In Myersville a large turnout elected two incumbents and a former council member to the Town Council. Incumbent William Talbott won 91 votes, Patrick Barrett 63, and Julius Gunter 66, defeating Roy Queen 52 Constance Guy 46 and Russell Shoop 29. About 120 voters, 57 percent turnout, participated.
