Thomas head of the Maryland Committee for the Re election of President Nixon says the main concern for Maryland Republicans in the Sixth District tomorrow is choosing two pro Nixon delegates to the Miami convention. He notes one candidate Gregory Bannon from Frederick is anti Nixon and uncommitted but may back McCloskey to oppose Nixon's Vietnam policies. He predicts Goodloe Byron could lose the Democratic seat but thinks Wallace may carry Maryland with Agnew on the ticket.
Urbana shoppers at Sole's general store discuss a Tuesday primary race. Voters split among Wallace McGovern Humphrey with war and economy concerns shaping views. Nixon backers cited taxes and policy as decisive factors in a precinct mood piece.
Thirty two thousand nine hundred twenty four residents are registered to vote for the presidential preference primary. Polls operate from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 31 locations with two polling place changes.

The 203 year old mansion was home to Thomas Johnson Maryland's first governor who nominated George Washington for commander in chief. South Vietnamese infantry retook Fire Base Bastogne twelve miles west of Hue after 36 hours of fierce fighting aided by B52 strikes. The base had fallen to North Vietnamese on April 28. The counterattack involved about 2,000 troops supported by helicopters, artillery and air power as the northern front faces renewed probes and the central highlands see continued bombardment.
