Refusal to Identify Two Rape Suspects Stuns Maryland
Maryland state prosecutor Daniel M. Murray disclosed that a Washington woman who said she was raped by two men forced her to testify or identify suspects. Despite arrests after 90 hours of police work, she refused to return to Maryland, and the case stalled as the district could not compel her testimony due to lack of an extradition agreement. The father, a Washington attorney, supported her decision amid unfavorable publicity.
