Mother jailed for perjury in grand jury probe

Linda Nyberg, 31, was sentenced to nine months in jail suspended, two years of supervised probation, for perjury before a Frederck County Grand Jury investigating drug trafficking and welfare fraud. Judge Edward Dwyer noted the perjury strikes at justice, citing a chance to recant offered during the session.

Man gets year in jail for drunken vehicular homicide

Rennew Robeson 27 of Frostburg was sentenced in district court to one year in a local detention center for vehicular homicide while intoxicated after a head on crash south of Lohr Road last July that killed 23 year old Phillip D. Caudill Jr of Emmitsburg and seriously injured Robeson. He received a two year suspended sentence and three years supervised probation. Prosecutor Donald Grossnickle called it a prime example of driving drunk. Robeson had no prior record and the defense described him as a good provider and husband.
