Music program at Evangelical Lutheran draws 250 attendees

An audience of about 250 gathered Thursday evening at the Evangelical Lutheran church for an organ and concerted instruments program. Sponsored by Frederick County Branch of the Women's League of Gettysburg College, the concert featured William Sprigg, organist and director, with local Frederick and Washington instrumentalists and Hood College string players. The program included Bach Purcell and Mozart works, a unique Leo Sowerby piece, and Widor Toccata. The two absent National Symphony trumpeters caused substitutions, with Purcell Trumpet Tune in D Major performed on the organ. The event raised funds toward the General Women's League pledge to adapt the former Brua chapel into a fine arts building, contributing $116 toward a $350,000 goal.
