Ex-Governor Rollins Arrested on Smuggling Conspiracy
Former New Hampshire Governor Frank W. Rollins and his son Douglas Rollins were arrested aboard the steamship Lusitania on warrants by U S Commissioner Shields for conspiring to defraud the government by smuggling dutiable goods. Nine trunks contained $1000 worth of attire and valuables. Rollins admitted omitting items from his declaration. Mrs Rollins, though not arrested, was prostrated and stricken. Rollins authored The Ring in the Code and other works. his Concord home is noted.
