Twelve of seventeen inmates housed in Frederick County Jail were moved at 6 a.m. Friday to the Maryland prison in Prince Georges County. Five remain with detainers or holds as Sheriff Donald notes the move provides immediate relief.
After persistent pleas, the Frederick County Jail wins a reprieve from the state Department of Corrections The sheriff secures permission to move 12 state prisoners to a new Prince Georges facility reducing local overcrowding Four state inmates remain at the jail as transfers continue and pre sentence work proceeds.
The City Historic District Commission approves demolition at 102 and 106 West Patrick Street and the rear of 108 110 West Patrick Street for a new court house complex. 108 Hanson House remains a landmark via ownership, with rear renovations to remove a modern addition. The panel also OKs remodeling of the B and O Railway Station and denies Poleto’s sign request for lack of permit.
Woodsboro will hold a Memorial Day parade in 1977 after officials reversed an earlier decision that blocked Md. 194.
