County Commissioners consider placing a bronze tablet at the Courthouse in memory of John Hanson the statesman who served in the Provincial Assembly the U.S. Congress and signed the Articles of Confederation The John Hanson Society of Maryland sponsors the memorial with tentative ceremonies set for June 18 and earlier letter indicates June 5 as potential date Hanson was born in 1755 in Charles County and moved to this county in 1773. he held multiple offices and contributed to Frederick and Maryland during the Revolution Representatives and society officers are named including US Senator Millard Tydings as honorary president and Elizabeth Colton as honorary vice president

Man Drownings After Motorcycle Fire In Salisbury
Salisbury Md May 12 Dallas Washburn a 30 year old garage operator drowned today in the Wicomico river after his clothing caught fire from a motorcycle blaze. He ran from the garage through the building and jumped into the river from the back door. Firemen recovered the body in about 15 minutes.

Coad May Run For Comptroller Says He Will Decide Soon
