State license and gas tax receipts decline early this year
Motor vehicle license and gasoline tax receipts for the first quarter were 471 182 below 1923 levels. John N. Mackall, chairman of the State Roads Commission, says April figures may rebound with summer driving. The drop stems from changes in registration fee timing and structure. The state notes road funds remained sufficient, with last year’s deficits used to cover prior shortfalls. A Clifton cottage sale to Miss Emma E. Lamar is also reported.
