The Norge passed over the North Pole today with a clear sky and strong winds reported. Reports say the dirigible dropped the American Norwegian and Italian flags during the polar pass, confirming a historic milestone for polar flight.
Central Trust Company of Maryland recommends raising capital stock from 275000 to 400000 with 2500 shares at 175 each. Stockholders vote June 9. A syndicate will buy unsubscribed shares, and deposits and resources show tenfold growth over thirteen years. Capital and surplus will reach 1.5 million.
J W McLennan, president of Wikaloosa College, was arrested in Des Yoinca on charges tied to a major discipline and credentialing scandal. The case alleges forged diplomas and misrepresentation, with the president and his family facing related accusations.
The second annual Hood College students dinner at Calvary Methodist Episcopal Church drew about 75 Hood College attendees guests of honor. The evening featured toasts music and games with colorful decorations blue and gray lights and long flowered tables. Rev Dr G Ellis Williams praised Hood students and the church while Miss Virginia M Cune led welcomes followed by songs poems and an original poem. A formal dinner was served by church members and a full program included solos and addresses from student leaders and clergy.
Two 10 year old Washington boys, Sidney Wolpon and Raymond Robin, left home Monday to see trains cross a bridge at Harpers Ferry. They wandered about, rode hops on cars, and were picked up in Knoxville by Frederick man Mullard Angleberger and later delivered to sheriff in Frederick before reunion with parents. The parents immediately traveled from Washington to Frederick.
The Frederick City Hospital Alumnae Association held its annual banquet in the Blue and Grey room of the Francis Scott Key hotel to honor this year’s graduating class. Toasts were given by the president Miss Bilda Flanagan and others. Music by Magan's orchestra accompanied attendees including many named alumnae and guests.
Plans discussed to rotate the Apple Blossom Festival among Staunton Martinsburg Harrisburg Frederick and Chambersburg amid Winchester’s recent financial loss. Also, bids opened for a one mile Fingerboard Road in Frederick County with several bidders. Windsor Williams of Kemptown welcomed the decision to build another mile this year.

London May 2 AP The great British general strike was called off at noon as Trades Union Congress leaders met with Premier Baldwin to resume negotiations over miners grievances. About 1,120,000 miners and up to 3,000,000 workers had joined the stoppage that began last Monday at midnight. reactions ranged from relief in hotels to tense moments among miners leaders and government officials. Churchill appeared pleased as the strike ended with hopes the wheels of industry would turn soon.
The Evangelical Reformed Sunday school will hold its 62nd anniversary Thursday at 7 pm with a highly symbolic festival. Floral portals, cross of white flowers, and garden motifs mark the service, with eight girls in peach gowns handling emblems at the gates. Memorial flowers honor several deceased members, and the program includes organ music, processional, readings, songs, recitations, and a benediction.
