Civil War Documents Published in Carroll County Book
A collection of diaries letters and documents published by the Historical Society of Carroll County recounts how a newspaper editor aligned against Lincoln. It covers Gen J E B Stuart delayed in Maryland en route to Gettysburg and border county loyalties. The book Just South of Gettysburg compiled by Klein Redcay and LeGore details over a hundred accounts from 1857 to 1865 showing Union and Confederate moves through a typical Maryland border area with divided sympathies. References to Meade’s 1865 restoration and supply details appear along with notes on local bookstores.
