Man Kills Contractor and Wounds Wife in Pittsburgh
Walter P. Konitz shot and killed J. E Walsh after approaching Walsh and his wife, who was employed as Walsh's housekeeper. Konitz then wounded his wife, leaving her with a broken jaw and chest injuries. Walsh died at the scene. Konitz claims self defense, saying Walsh moved as if armed. The couple had been living with Walsh in a Squirrel Hill home. Konitz was arrested. The wife may recover after months of injury and speech restoration.

Marcum suspect arrested Curtis Jett charged with assassination
Curtis Jett, 28, athletic with red hair, was arrested in Winchester on a warrant sworn by Sam Jett for the assassination of J. B. Marcum in Jackson last Monday. He surrendered without resistance, handed his pistol to his mother, and was jailed pending arraignment and transfer to Jackson district for trial. He denied discussing the killing, aimed to be tried in Breathitt county, and praised his uncle’s arrest as a score to be settled.

Blown up by gas explosion kills two in North Collins home
In Buffalo region May 11 an explosion and fire tear through the Blasdell home of former Assemblyman Tlasdell and his wife. The couple died from burns hours after the blast. An adopted son escaped with minor injuries as the house burned and collapsed. Mrs Blasdell walked outside before collapse. Mr Blasdell perished after leaping from an upper window. Drowned in Hudson while canoeing, Charles W. Shetterd of Scranton, a Rensselaer polytechnic senior, tried to swim to shore with clothes on and drowned. three others were rescued.
