Miller to be Burkittsville mayor after unanimous nomination
Newton Eugene Miller was chosen by the Burkittsville nominating committee Monday with no other candidates and will be mayor after accepting the nomination. Six residents were nominated for three council seats. Hopwood withdrew. Elections set for June 6. Budget approved at 21,600 with raises for mayor councilmembers and clerk and funds for a new town administrator. A variance request by John Ahalt for subdividing his lot was noted. The Frederick Jaycee Women meet tonight at the VFW to close out the 1982-83 term and plan the 1983-84 year.
