Hood College May Day queen memories span Frederick history
The Frederick area recalls Hood College May Day traditions from 1928 onward. Elizabeth Lee Scott was Queen of the May in 1928, escorted by Prince Hood, with events at Hood and later celebrations shaping decades of college pageants. Former queens and participants, including Mrs. Kline and Mrs. Ramsburg, are noted as prominent locals. The piece traces festival changes through the Festival of the Arts starting in 1959 and the 1963 plan featuring Chinese dance and lectures.
