Jury awards damages in Browning shotgun blast case
A Maryland jury awarded $13 304 in damages to Scruton and Rinehart after a 1970 explosion injured both men while shooting in West Virginia. The Browning Arms Co. faced claims of defective workmanship and an overloaded shell. Ballistics expert Lemar Martin testified the blast resulted from an overcharged shell, not a faulty barrel.
