Dispensary Case Upheld as State Law Unconstitutional
A South Carolina federal court ruled the state dispensary and registration laws unconstitutional. Judge Goff held the laws discriminate against out of state liquor purchases and imports, hindering the rights of citizens to obtain products from other states. Injunctions against State Liquor Commissioner Mixson and others were dismissed as they had purged contempt. The ruling boosts opponents of the dispensary system while state authorities vow to continue the fight. Governor Evans may pursue seizures to test the injunction.
