Ewing Pushes Tougher False Alarm Law in Montgomery County
Montgomery County council member Gail H. Ewing seeks to amend the 1993 false burglar alarm law, aiming to lower the trigger to finsing after the first alarm and escalate penalties for the second and third. She cites a 98 percent false alarm rate from 33,000 plus alarms in 1996, costing taxpayers 1.6 million dollars and 10,797 police hours, urging public support and a scheduled hearing.
