William J. Casey, who led the CIA to restore vigor after criticism, died at 3 hospital in Glen Cove New York at age 74 from pneumonia with brain tumor listed as secondary cause. He resigned Feb 2 after brain seizures and undergone surgery December 18 at Georgetown. Funeral plans to be announced.
