Walkersville jet crash linked to falls in barley field
An EC-135 jet crashed north of Walkersville during a misty morning, exploding and scattering mangled bodies across a barley field. Rescue chief Vaughn Zimmerman described a growing, fatal scene as fire crews and medical teams sealed off the area. Investigators later cited a flight control malfunction as the likely cause and the crash prompted a lengthy probe with autopsies in Washington and a compensation offer to farmers for crop damage.
