A 2 year old boy named Michael was rescued after hours trapped in a narrow irrigation well in a bean field near Miami Dade County. Fireman Raw Chavez and Gregory Gerlach led a dangerous rescue using jacks, a tunnel system, and hooked poles. Michael, shaken but in satisfactory condition, was freed and comforted by his mother Barbara Jean Smith as rescuers note this marked the sixth such incident in four years with one fatality.
