Horse thief arrest after Georgetown county chase

George Witler, 23, was committed by Justice Cachinver in Baltimore for stealing a horse and gear valued at 259 from E W Cahwa of Hagerstown and a horse and buggy valued at 225 from Samuel Shelley near Mt Hope Netreat. He hired Shelley's team to Westminster then fled toward his county before detectives seized the gear after a lively pursuit. Witler admitted guilt. The Arctic steamer Pear sailed from St Johns, and the coal schooner arrived the same day. Ensign W d Chambers will assume command of Thetis on its arrival.
