Two Escape From Carroll County Jail
Two professional criminals Richard Davis and Leslie Miller escaped from Carroll County Jail in Westminster between 1 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Sunday. A plank from the bathroom door aided the escape, and state police issued a statewide and interstate warrant. A stolen car belonging to Charles Lease was found abandoned near the Maryland state line, suggesting the pair fled by car after the break. Davis, Miller, and the items they targeted, including a 1952 Cadillac and a 50-pound safe with cash, were part of earlier grand jury actions for breaking and entering and grand larceny in Hampstead.
