End Of Rent Controls Here Is Requested
Frederick Maryland officials heard a bid to end rent controls with about 35 landlords presenting a petition signed by 350 property owners. Mayor Elmer F Munshower questioned relying on decontrol and urged broader meetings among agencies to seek housing solutions. Rent Control Board urged lifting controls in the area, citing harm to tenants and stagnation of construction, while real estate members argued decontrol would stabilize rents and housing market.
