Freak distribution reshapes a bridge bidding contest
In a peculiar bridge hand under the Americas Card Authority, the narrator explains how a strange distribution influenced the bid. West passes an eight card spade unit, Von Zedtwitz opens with one spade aiming for no trump, and South shifts to two no trump before West bids three spades. The tale tracks the ensuing play with squeezes, carding errors, and final lines leading to a dramatic end as the defense struggles to hold hearts and clubs.
