Food banks seek more donations as need rises in two counties
Frederick and Washington counties report a rising need for emergency food with low inventory. The Rel Let Coalition affiliated food banks show a 2 percent client increase since January and a 25 percent rise in meals from January to March. Frederick Food Bank served 1,214 families through March, up 251 from last year, while 123 families sought aid in Washington County, up 20 from before. Families with children and elderly groups face stretching supplies and longer waits. Food items in short supply include peanut butter, canned vegetables, and pasta.
